Both cards will easily max out any game. I think the 8800 gts 640 mb is more then enough.I want a 8800GX so badly. How big is the ...
The 8800gtx I would do instead, but the 640mb is a sick card and maxes out everything up 19x12 no problems. Its okay at 25x16, but nothing a 8800gtx can do.
I did upgrade from a 8800GTS 640Mb to a 8800GTX and to be honest, I can't really tell the difference in games since the GTS is still a very powerful card and the GTX is suppose to be 20-25% faster than the GTS. I can't still get the most of my GTX because it bottlenecks my CPU but whatever the reason is, I'm happy with my GTX since I'm gonna go Quad soon anyway. :)
get the 8800gts 640mb you can get if for like $315 at bestbuy its not really worth it to get the 8800gtx because it's really expensive and why would you want to spend so much money on something that isn't using all of its potential and when it does new series of card will be out that will be cheaper and better and its not worth the extra $200-$300 bucks when you only get like maybe %30 more better performance
Oh no I didn't do the Step-Up. My previous GTS was a XFX. I got it for $350 at Dell last year and sold it for $300 2 weeks ago, then I paid an extra $120 to get a practically new never OC GTX from a guy that I know. :D
ah not bad then. My sig says I have an 8800GTX but I actually have a 8800GTS 640. I made the sig like an hour before I ordered my 8800, but they had some huge sale on Bestbuy.com, and I was like why pay 550 for an 8800GTX when I could get an already amazing card for $316. Still I'ma keep my sig, people think I'm 1337. lol

I know they have a 8800GTS 640MB for sale at BB for around $300 and yeh, you can definitely pick it up to run in SLI and beat da hell out of a GTX. LOL. I'm thinking about getting another GTX to run in SLI though, till I won't do it anytime soon until I upgrade to Quad by the end of this year. I saw there's a guy who sells his PNY 8800 GTX for $400 and I would probably grab it if it's not due to my CPU bound.
I don't have a sli mobo. Pretty much all the Sli mobos in the $80 price range have crappy overclocking features for some reason... But I'd rather just upgrade to a 9800GTX or something anyway.
Im looking to step up to the 8800Ultra if I can do it here.
Im looking to step up to the 8800Ultra if I can do it here.
Why not the evga 880o gtx acs3 Ko (I think thats what its called) its nearly as good, but is a ton cheaper.
You cant step up to that card and I would rather have the Ultra. A 8800gtx KO costs more then an 8800Ultra anyways and the 8800Ultra will pass it with an overclock.
^ Then it would just be better to buy a non overclocked 8800GTX and overclock it. Because that one is about $650, making it $50 dollars cheaper than an Ultra.

People have to remember that my card I won in a contest. I got the store print me up a receipt and so I can do this. This Ultra will cost me $400cdn.
I originally had $1100cdn saved up to do Crossfire 1gb HD 2900XT. I personally wouldnt buy the 8800GTS, 8800GTX now, I would just jump straight to an 8800Ultra since theyre in the same price bracket within $50-$100 of eachother.
I was agreeing with you. I would rather pay $50 too. My reply was meant at him, but you posted before me so it looked like I was quoting you.
oh hahaha. damn I feel like I ahve been harping on you all this time. Sorry if I have been coming off that way man. No disrespect meant
nah it's no problem lol
I would get another GTX to run in SLI rather than getting an Ultra. Sure its price is down but I still don't feel like dropping 600-700 bucks to get one, I'd rather spend $800 for a pair of GTX. LOL
