Wow.. awesome budget lolI had a quick look and that would buy you an amazing rig, something like this:Intel Core2Quad QX6800 - $1300 8GB DDR2 RAM - $570Nvidia 8800Ultra - $7002x Western Digital Raptors 150gb each - $400evga 680i SLI motherboard - $230Coolermaster Stacker case - $2602x Sony DVD Burners - $100Thermalright Ultra-120 Extreme (heatsink) - $65That gives you a total of about $3600.Thats an amzing computer, one of the best you'll get nowadays...all you need to add is as much extra storage as you want, Hard drives are pretty cheap anyway.Oh yeah.. forgot an OS. Vista home premium retail - $220You dont need that 8gb of RAM at all... drop 4 or 6 gb of it to save a lot of money and still have enough..Building my 1st Gaming PC Budget $3000 - ...
A lot of that stuff is absolute overkill but since you've got that kind of money to spend..
If you're going to buy it off of someone who's pre-assembling it for you over eBay. I suggest checking out ABS' X Striker Extreme:http://www.abs.com/app/xstriker_compare.asp
Whoops.. forgot the PSU!Thermaltake toughpower 750W PSU - $175If you take out the 8gb of RAM, replace it with 4gb (which is still overkill) you shave over $300 offG.SKILL 4GB RAM - $209Extra hard drive:Western Digital 500GB Hard Drive - $150
New total (with everything included, before shipping or rebates..): $3589
Oh and you might want a sound card:X-Fi XtremeGamer 7.1 - $89
thanks for the help skinnypete and gamingmonkey what would you think of the idea of 2 top of the line 8800 GFX cards working in SLI or is that just a complete waste of money ?Ill look into your system skinny and see how much ti costs 8)my bad u put the price :)
Two 8800 Ultras is like $1500 (half your budget!) and at this point in time is completely unneccessary.. just one 8800 series card (gts, gtx or ultra) will max out any game for some time. But for higher resolutions its better to go higher than the 320mb gts. What monitor will you be using ?
All prices from newegg.com btw
All prices from newegg.com btw
ok awesome now I just need to find som1 on here or ebay who is willing to make this beast (as I live in the UK) although im getting it in november im sure i will find som1 by then
Well...I live in the UK too and you will find that parts are noticeably more expensive than over in the states, but for that kind of money you could still build a quality pc. Unfortunately newegg doesn't ship to the UK so your best bet is to buy most stuff from UK sites but the more expensive parts (graphics card) from ebay.com. I have looked around there and you can make some significant savings, even after shipping.

$3,000-$4,000 for just 1-2 years?!

$4,000 is overkill! That'll last you 3-4 easy and probably much longer too.

Fair enough!
Wait for REAL quads dont get the fake C2D ones. The AMD X4's are coming out in a few months and those will be native quads just wait! and 4gb is overkill but slightly future proof.
Total overkill, i would put half of that into the bank or investments or a bunch of beer. Regardless of how much a person spends, in a year it will be obsolete.
what ever you do don't spend that much money its a total waste of money and a overkill why would you spend so much money on something that is a total overkill in games and will get outdatted when new series of cards and processorscome out just spend about $2000 on a build and then save the rest for future upgrades because that stuff will get outdatted
Screw the 8800 Ultra...just put two 8800GTXs in SLi
