http://www.hkepc.com/bbs/itnews.php?tid=789466%26starttime=0%26endtime=0As many of you already know, quad core pricecuts come July 22nd. My E6600 is great but for that price, it's irresistable, especially after selling the E6600 (Atleast $150). Will you pull the trigger on this deal? Why or why not? I think I will, Penryn and Barcelona don't seem realistic to me for quite some time. As software matures for multithreading, this chip will get faster rather than gradually slower. Plus it's compatible with my reasonably priced DS3. I know the latter two aren't out yet but I'd still respect your opinion...Can you resist a Q6600 for $266?
i will probaly not beacuse the most games out now don't even utilize two cores yet so ill probaly just get a E6600 ora lower end core 2 duo for real cheap and overclock it which will hold me off for a years easy then i'll upgrade if i need too and the Q6600 is good but isn't a true quad coreCan you resist a Q6600 for $266?
Yeah, games don't use it... And it only generates more heat.
My S939 dual core Opty 185 @ 3.0GHz will put any quad-core to shame. At least, that's what I tell myself whenever I see irresistable deals like this one.
Yeah I'm definitely jumping on this deal. Hope to OC it well past 3ghz on my watercooling kit. Should work very well with an 8800GTX or two on water volt modded. :DOnly reason I'm upgrading is because 1. $266 for a quad core thats a lot faster then my X2 is awesome, 2. my current X2's temps jump around a lot and while it hasn't ever failed on me yet (been doing this for almost a year now) I'm sure it's only a matter of time before something happens and I definitely don't want it happening when it gets a lot of use when Crysis and Bioshock come out. 3. I want to be able to enjoy Crysis and Bioshock in there fullest with as little holdback as I can get.
My E6600 is just fine for right now - hell, it'll be good until native quad-core chips are out. Possibly even until 32nm.

I have an E6600, and it'll max basically all games for quite some time. I probably won't upgrade again untill Penryn comes out.
Meh,unless you're playing supreme commander the Q6600's are a waste IMO.If you want quad core get a Yorkfield or Phenom X4 when they're out, they'll pwn the Q6600.
I am totally getting this deal and pouncing on it :)

'Xactly. Even Crysis is maxable on a C2D.
i can resist it because i don thave that kind of money lol.
I got a E6420 for $75cdn. Now there is a deal you cant resist.
The Q6600 for that price ($266usd), will be insane. That is probably going to be all over these forums soon and many others after the price drop.

A non-native quad? No thanks :) I will wait for the X4's. Why would intel put out fake quad cores, oh yea money.
For now quad cores are just a waste of money IMO. There are little games that use 2 cores, and just one that use 4 cores. Hell no. I wont upgrade. I will be able to play most upcoming games close as good as ppls whit quad cores will, and than when real quad cores will come out (of course they will totally own Q6XXX) i will get one and than enjoy again. I never buy technology before it is needed. Except when i reall need to upgrade. Like going from 9200SE to 8800 GTX wasnt a waste of money. I simply couldnt stand that outdated radeon 9200SE. :)
