Reduced power preformance

I put a 7900 gs into my comp but the power cord was to short, I wanted to see if the card worked because if it didn't I would save a trip to radio shack. When I booted by computer up everything worked fine but the resolution was super low (my monitor is 1680 by 1050) and it said that since the power cord wasnt hooked up it would set the preformance lower to accomodate for it. I bought the cord and hooked it up but nothing prompted me to run the card at full preformance, i just changed the resolution back to what it was supposed to be. I thought everything would work fine but I tried to play quake but it would only run at 1024 by 768 when I would try to change the resolution. Should the card just auto detect the power and run at full or is there some settings somewhere that I need to change?Reduced power preformance
You did install the drivers right? Reduced power preformance
You did install the drivers right?
Yes, but I am asking if it will automatically recognize the power supply or keep the reduced performance untill I change it, however that may be, because after I plugged in the power supply my computer didn't tell me anything about operating at full.
Just check your power connector.
It should autodetect power, so maybe the cable is not the right one or its loose somehow. Try removing and reinstalling the card.
