8600GTS, is it worth it?

Hello. Well its my Birthday coming up in August, so I'll be getting a new PC then (just after Intel price drops, so i'll be getting a Q6600). So far my budget is $1500 AUD which is approx $1275 USD. So far I only have $200 AUD ($175 USD) for a GPU, which leads me to get either a 7900GS or a 8600GTS. What will be the better decision out of those 2 cards? Ive heard the 8600's are crap, and I have a 22'' Monitor, so I want it at high res. If need be, i will get a 8800 GTS 320mb, but I cannot afford an 8800 GTS 640Mb at all. I wanna play crysis and alan wake, so which will be the best choice?8600GTS, is it worth it?
for 190$ you can find ati X1950 XT, which has best performance in its price range, so I would recommend you to get that one8600GTS, is it worth it?
Agreed unless you can spring for the 8800GTS 320mb, I would wait. The 8600GTS is a decent card, but it's not the 6600GT/7600GT of the past. The newer radeon cards are disappointing to say the least... For the same price you can get the X1950XT (as said), which will blow it out of the water, or even the 7950GT if you want nvidia. So yeah, unless you can grab that 8800GTS model, I would wait for Dx10 to both mature, as well as other cards to come out.Edit: Just noticed your price range, they might be slightly outta your range. Although if you can buy from Newegg. They have a sapphire 1950XT for $175.
No is not worth it, You better get an 8800GTS 320 because the price will dropp soon
