But my problem is my computer right now is really fast and good, but I use it for homework and other important uses and so I dont want to make it extremley slow with video games and other things. So, I will ask my parents about getting me a new decent, computer... Does anyone have any reccomendations on which PC to get? Im playing on getting Windows definatley no Macs or anything else for me. Or would a labtop me better??? Anyway, the computer should come with a LCD screen, a mouse and a keyboard... I dont need anything else really for it.. I also would hope it can play games and handle games like Oblvion, Halo 2 and a few others without lagging like CRAZY... But I also do not want to the most expensive or fastest computer ever.... I Really Wanna Play PC Games But....
For starters laptops aren't really a good choice for gaming, you can get good gaming laptops but you'd have to sell your kidney on the black market to pay for them. For Halo 2 you need vista, most new computers will come with this anyway. The most important component in a PC for gaming is the graphics card, common ones are geforce or radeon. Now many premade computers from dell or other places will often put in very crappy graphics cards while the rest of the computer is good. You are then trapped with a good computer that can't play games because it has a poor graphics card. Now you may ask how do I tell what is a good graphics card? Well that's a tough question, best to get specs on a computer and come back here or to another forum and ask.How much do you want or can you spend? I've heard good things about http://www.ibuypower.com/mall/lobby.htm in terms of premade computers but again some of those will come with weakish graphics cards, the ''Gamer'' ones look to have decent graphics cards. The other option is building it yourself but you may not want to.I Really Wanna Play PC Games But....
I would strongly recommend you get the Asus G1S-A1 laptop. It is the strongest 15.4'' laptop out there right now and it is really cheap for a gaming laptop. It has a GeForce 8600GT graphics card which is very good, a Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 2.2 GHz 4MB 800 FSB, 2 GB of ram,(can be customized up to 4GB or ram), 15.4'' WSXGA+ 1680X1050 Color Shine display, and a standard 160GB 5400rpm 2.5-inch 9.5mm HDD S-ATA which can be customized to a Seagate Momentus 7200.2 160GB 7200rpm S-ATA 300. All of this for around $2,300.00

This is a very common misperception. Simply playing games or having them installed on your computer will not make it run any slower when you're using it for other things. There are only a handful of things that will make your system run slower:
1. Spyware and viruses - Can be constantly running on your system, causing all kinds of damage and eating up system resources. Make sure you're protected, and DO NOT use Internet Explorer to surf the web!
2. Lots of programs running simultaneously - Those programs get loaded into memory, so the more that are running, the less free memory you have. BE WARNED that this includes anti-virus and anti-spyware, so make sure you get the right ones (I recommend PC-Cillin)!
3. Hard drive is almost full - Because Windows uses the hard drive to swap data to and from memory, having a drive that's almost full can mean it has to do this more often, which will slow your system down considerably.
Keep in mind that simply rebooting your system will clear any programs out of memory (you can also download a free utility which does this without needing to reboot). Windows can be pretty stupid about how it manages memory, so it's natural for your system to slow down somewhat if you haven't rebooted for a while. In fact, some programs can even contain memory leaks, which will eat up memory even if you aren't at your computer! But like I said, simply exiting these programs and/or restarting your computer will solve that problem.
Again, simply having games installed or playing games on your PC will not make it run slower.
in short words .. Intel Core 2 , Nvidia 8800 Ultra .
in short words .. Intel Core 2 , Nvidia 8800 Ultra .
HAHAHAHANot everyone has 700 dollars to spend on a graphics card bud. Hell, 700 dollars is problably 60% of this guys budget for the total rig. Some suggestions:
1. Dual Core Processor: Intel Core 2 Duos are great, but so are AMD X2 processors if youre on a budget.
2. Video Card: many run of the mill computers wont include a great graphics card, but you should not settle for anything than a Geforce 7600GT. If youre on a budget and want Dx10 graphics, find a PC with an 8600GT or higher in it (the 8800GTS 320MB version is the best balance of performance and price imo)
3. Memory: 2GB DDR2 667+MHz, dont settle for anything less
The rest of the components are self explanatory (DVD burner, hard drive, screen, etc). I dont recommend getting a laptop as well.
I suggest you use the computer you have now, you couldnt have that much homework that it would fill up the whole hard drive so just install the games you want and will play not any games that will be played rarely.
For the moment i recomend you to buy a console if you realy want to play.
Moved to PC hardware from PC Games. :)
dude, give ur pc more credit then it deserves, u say u have a powerful and fast pc?? then i'm sure it can handle ur homework, ie spreadsheets, powerpoint, internet research, i'm assuming ur talking about school and not some specific industry related homework that needs powerful programs,, but yeah, like someone earlier said use the same computer, if u want, buy a new graphics card, the 8800gtx,, dont get the ultra,,in my opinion, get the 8800gtx, or 8800gts,,,dependin on ur monitor,,and yeah ur computer will be able to handle new games like oblivion with no frame drops,,,and u can do ur homework as well,,
If you say your PC is good, then it should be able to handle your games too... I do everything on my PC like homework, games, internet, video editing, and still get around my PC without a problem... You may want to upgrade your video card like the 8800GTS 320MB and maybe your RAM (if you only have 1GB or something).
What are the specs of your current pc?
