AMD ''deep fried''

The latest article from TheInquirer really scares me. AMD is at the crossroads
''Barca was slower than the current Clovertown'' meaning that the future AMD Phenom maybe worthless. My whole plan was to wait for July 22nd or sometime in September (accuracy of wikipedia.org) to get a new PC. Processor prices are supposed to decrease drastically. The current Intel Core 2 Extreme X6800, which is a Dual-Core, will lose its Extreme name and become the Core 2 Duo E6850 in the E6x40/E6x50 Series. The price drop will go from roughly $973.00 to $266.00. I honeslty think price drops will be due to something much bigger and better on the way. Wolfdale and Yorkfield processors: 6 MiB of L2 cache and 1333 MHz FSB or 2x6 MiB of L2 cache and 1333 MHz FSB for Yorkfield. You honestly just can't keep up. What bothers me is the fact that AMD/ATI or DAMMIT is not doing so well. They are getting even further behind Nvidia and Intel. It seems without DAMMIT around Intel and Nvidia can jack the prices to whatever they want. It is a scary situation to think of even when it comes to more outrageous prices. AMD ''deep fried''
Im not worried. These are just things that get stirred up on the net. Creating some buzz. I like how they say that AMD should be sticking up for the leaked results on the net, cause it could be detrimental. Lol, what about all the leaked results all the time on the net.... I never see any comapny stick up for those results.

The only idea I liked in that whole article, is the IBM + AMD setup. That would be pretty sweet to have IBM, AMD and ATI all rolled into one company. Anyways, this is just the media stirring up the pot, cause theyre unhappy that they dont get to play with Phenom or Barcelona yet. AMD ''deep fried''

Its a matter of getting a PC in July or getting a PC in December. I am willing to wait if Phenom is going to be as good as it should be.
Yep same thing for me. I have been wanting Quad FX since they release it on FX70 series. I would like to have FX-90 in Quad setup for 8 cores myself. Big AMD fan here. I just had to be an idiot to pass up a E6420 for $75cdn. lol
I love AMD myself also. I have an old 2800+ socket A. I am currently looking at the Intel E6700 but I am going to wait it out a while longer.

well, if amd fails....... all pc guys gonna have some tough time with intel dominating, anyway the q6600 is the best processor imo, it has a great price/perfromance ratio.
I still don't know what DAMMIT stands for. And I'm too lazy to Google it, dammit! *hint: that's my Italian way of asking what DAMMIT standsfor.*As for AMD being fried--I doubt it. :) They always manage to pull themselves out of the gutter somehow. They'll do it again this time. Just you wait and see.
DAAMIT is basically what they call the merging of AMD and ATi.
Like damn it, you know damn it. Dammit, Damn it.DAMN IT lol

Im not going quad untill next year, but the Phenom is definantly my choice. Im sure it will turn out great, as they have put a lot of time into it.

DAAMIT was started by the Inquirer.net. Theyr ejust mergin all the letters together to form a work. Inquirer also started AMD K8L when it was K10

Unless you see K10/Phenom brand really become as great as a product as the AMD XP series compaired to Pentium 4, then we wont be seeing much of AMD any longer.
XP outperformed Pentium III and Pentium 4 Willamette, but not Northwood. The article is a bit on the doom and gloom side of things but at the same time, it's not something you should brush off. AMD IS in a financial woe that will require good management to steer out of. They don't big ego PR reps with fat pay cheques that pull pranks such as giving Intel a 'Quad Core for Dummies' book. :| -_-The situation is still reversible but if they keep stumbling on product launches and development, it won't be.Maybe IBM will bail AMD out again. The two are very close, with AMD and IBM sharing similar R%26D information and even manafacturing techniques.
Also, AMD need to get the ATi division floating again. Keep up the strong integrated sales to OEMs and enterprise level clients, offer wider support to Intel based platforms (face it, AMD, making IGAs for Intel platforms can make you big money) and get some higher performing discrete cards for the mainstream (something to beat the 8600GTS) and high end (get that XTX model out!). If anything, the 8800 ULTRA's price should be enough indication of NVIDIA's attitude toward its position in the market.

Along with tht efact that they produce to chipsets out there and AMD Im sure will be competing fine with Intel. Although I do like the sound of IBM joining up with them. That would be a killer Trio.
