q6600 vs. qx6700

is there a really big differnce in performance out of the box between these two cpu's? q6600 vs. qx6700
You can use this to determine the differences: http://www23.tomshardware.com/cpu.htmlAlso, I think the biggest difference is that the Core 2 Extremes have an unlocked CPU multiplier which, depending on how you want to do it, can make overclocking easier. That's why it costs twice as much, beyond that it's just faster than the Q6600.q6600 vs. qx6700
what if i dont want to overclock? should i just get the 6600? or should i wait till july when the qx6700 is cheaper?
Or you could wait until July and get a $266 Q6600.
i know the q6600 is going to drop but is the qx6700 going to drop?
Yeah, the QX6700 is dropping to $530.
so then it would totaly be worth getting the qx6700 right?? at least use it for a while then just sell it on ebay and get the new parlgrms
do you guys think that would be a good choice?
I would buy the q6600. It is still overkill, but at a reasonable price. I would go for it if I had $266 laying around.
Get the Q6600 and OC it, save another $250 for an extra video card and you're set. You don't see a big difference in performance between the Q6600 and QX6700 anyway, I just don't think any processor that has a hefty price tag over $500 is worth it in term of price and performance.
The QX6700 is way overpriced for a CPU that is simply a Q6600 overclocked (here in Australia, a QX6700 is around $1300 while a Q6600 now is around $700)Get the Q6600 when the prices drops, and used that saved up money for another computer component or peripheral

It is more then just an overclocked Q6600 but not very many people would need those features and the people that do don't care about price.
well if i get the q6600 and save all of that money i can drop more money on my monitor which will be a 24 inch 1200 by 1920. so if i have that cpu with 4 gigs of ram and two gtx's i should be able to max out everything for quite a while right? then when the newer cpu's come out i can just get one of those.
Why do you want 4gb of Ram??To sell it in one year and buy DDR3 anyway??2 Gb is enough for now

i want 4 gigs for vista
