which one should i get?i'll be using it with a C2D E6320, 2x1Gb DDR667 a 1280x1024 LCDdon't say 8800gts 320Mb, I can't afford itPlz, answer quickGeforce 8600gt/gts or radeon x1950pro/xt
I'd get the x1950. The 7950 isn't worth the money, and if you were going to get an 8600GTS you should just wait until you can find $50 more and get the 8800GTS.Geforce 8600gt/gts or radeon x1950pro/xt
The 8600 will perform as well as any other card listed here, and to boot is the only one listed with dx10 support. I really wouldn't even consider anything else.

just go with the cheapest one which should be the x1950pro it should last you awhile then get a direct 10 card in a year to year and a half when more games come out

i'll be using this card for 1 or 2 years, Isn't the 8600 more futureproof, as it's better in shader-intensive games, and i've seen a OCed version of 8600gt and Gts very cheap...
True, but dx10 won't be neccisary until maybe a year or two. By then, better more cost effective dx10 cards will be out.
Yeah like an 8900GS which would rock.
Yeah like an 8900GS which would rock.
Nvidia's talking about having a 9800GTX out by the end of this year. Not sure if that's just a rumour, but a lot of major computer sites picked up on it. If it is true though, I doubt we'll be seeing 8900 cards unless Nvidia has been really secretive and is almost ready to release them this summer.

You should check it out.
Seriously though people is the 8600GT really so bad for the resolution he will be playing at?

As nvidia would have no things to put into the next generation. No new graphical features or direct x's.
Like all those new API instructions they added from the 6-series to 7-series cards?
I wouldn't be terribly surprised if you're right, just not for the reason you mentioned. I just don't see G92 being ready for release in only six months without any hype whatsoever. Nvidia's bound to be going for the throat - they're usually noisier than they are right now.
