Very Very odd Wireless Networking proble ...

On my wired connection I get 11mb/s......Odd since I only get a 5mb/s service.My computer over wireless get..... 3.2mb/s at times and at other time 100kb/s . It is now at 2.8mb/sSlow speed like 100kb-500kb happen sometimes but are fixed by power cycling the router and modem.But even 3.2mb sounds slow even over wireless.I have a Linksys WRT54G v.5 router and a Netgear WG111 USB Wireless Adapter.I have a 7/8 signal and am connect at 54mb.What could be wrong?Very Very odd Wireless Networking proble ...
The 11mb/s thing is the maximum your equipment can handle. eg. my lan is apparently connected at 100mbps, but i only have 8mbps.Theres not much you can do about the wireless signal, unless you get a booster if its really that bad..Very Very odd Wireless Networking proble ...

The speed are NEVER stable either..
Sometimes I get 3.6mb,
Sometimes 2.8mb
Sometimes 2.2mb
Sometime 500kb

I've owned a Netgear WG series USB adapter, those things tend to degrade in wirelessperformance after long period ofuse. Those things tend to get really hot at times. You could try updating the drivers for it.
If it's cable internet service that's probably the culprit, the speed fluctuates depending on how many people are downloading/uploading to the node.
One it may be the fact you have different addapers. I get extreamly jumpy sigs when I crossed a Netgear router with a Linksys card, Same with a netgear card and a Apple rouder. a funny queston this may be but is tour Microwave in the way between your Computer and the Router? or even near it. Those things screw your wireless over. Another issue may be how meany computers are hooked to the Wireless? The more that are the slower that goes if like 2 computers are Torrenting or what have you and one is not. All the computers will run slower then Normal
