I have like a 17 or 19 inch crt moniter that is 1280x1204, but I have a 8800gts 320mb so I want to be able to go higher resoulution. Try to get 8800 GTS whit 640MB or even GTX which would be ideal for 24'' LCD.Does a 1920x1200 moniter look that much ...
get 1680x1050 monitor and it will look good plus ur card would run it good

8800 GTS 320 mb can handle those resolutions, look at the bench marks.. But it doesn't HAVE to be those resolutions thats just the max.. In all honesty in my playing experience even when I have the capability of going as high 1920x 1200 and not notice a difference I prefer 1280 X 1024.. Add in 8X aa and As, and I never know the difference between the two.. Not to mention alot of games do not alter their font meaning the writing becomes even smaller. Infact BFG OCed and the EVGA superclocked 320mbs beat out the regular stock 640mb alot of times.

I recently went from a 17'' to dual 22'' monitors and the difference is unimaginable. Although, like others have suggested, upgrade to a video card with more vram if your going to play at a resolution of 1920x1200.
Thanks guys but until I get a new video card won't the GTS 320mb still hold up well. I mean games like HL2 and Far Cry could easily run at that resolution with my current card right??? But yes for stuff like Bioshock and Crysis I am going to upgrade.

Its not until 19x12 and heavy textures do you see the 640mb take off from the 320mb. The 320mb is for 16x12.
ButiamsurethatCrysiswillshowdifferentstory.
Unreal Trounament 3, Huxley, Bioshock will be heavier games then Crysis. Crysis is so well optimized that at the latest demo it was runningsmoothly (an odd hicup) @ 19x12 with a QX6700, 2x1gb and single 8800gtx. Epic has already commented on the Unreal 3 engine being the one that will destroy PCs as its a benchmarking engine too.
Theyre will be a difference, about 7-10 fps when those games come out yes. Keep in mind, its games that use the 512mb greatly. But I personally wouldnt pay the extra $150 for 7-10fps. I would rather pay $200 more and get a 8800gtx then.

You think that 8800s wont be able to max out those games like bioshock and UT3??And about my sacebar. There is something wrong whit that if you browse in Opera and post on GS forums. Sorry not my fault. I have to manualy edit post to add spaces.

well on the colin mcrae demo, at 1280 by 768 i get around 60-70 fps with a 17inch widescreen monitorbut at 1600 by 1200 on a 37inch tv i get around 10 fps
